Netflixco-CEO Ted Sarandos has said he” squinched up” communication with workers following a counterreaction over Dave Chappelle’s The Closer, according to Variety. At the same time, he stood by the show, saying the company heavily values” cultural expression.”His commentary come just ahead of a planned strike organized by LGBTQ staffers, creatives and abettors.
After debuting before this month, The Closer was met by a storm of review from the LGBTQ community, who called it transphobic. At the time, he told workers that Netflix would noway allow titles”that are designed to incite hate or violence, and we do n’t believe The Near crosses that line Now, Sarandos has said he regrets the way he handled the situation with workers.”Obviously, I squinched up that internal communication,”he said in an interview with Variety.” First and foremost, I should have led with a lot further humanity.
