While Apple stated the results of the legal battle with Epic Games a “victory echoed,” it was not complete. The federal judge in this case ordered Apple to allow developers to link to third party payment portals in the App Store on December 9, the company’s deadline seems to want to push back for a long time.
On Friday, Apple submitted an appeal in the US District Court for the northern District of California, trying to reverse the decision on September 10 which mostly ruled in its kindness in everything except the assessment in the App Store. Until the appeal was completed, the company also requested a period of stay, or suspension, from the command ordered by Federal Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers who required him to link to the outside payment system. Epic rival has previously appealed the verdict on September 12.
If the court approves the stay, the addition of alternative payment options in the App Store can be postponed for years while the company is against it in court.
