Facebook whistleblower drops bombshell that has everyone talking

A series of Wall Street Journal reports show evidence in recent weeks that Facebook consciously takes advantage of toxicity that can appear on Facebook and Instagram. This does things in an effort to make people spend more time in that application. The polarization content, fulfilled hate is what encourages people to continue to the application. In turn, Facebook produces more money than this engagement. The documents from whistleblower help the journal tell the story that Facebook has repeatedly tried to deny – that Facebook property supports toxic experiences. And we now know who whistleblower Facebook is because he appears at CBS News’s 60 minutes.

Frances Haugen is a 37-year-old data scientist who works on Facebook until May. That’s when he went with tens of thousands of documents that proved Facebook realized the toxicity of his social network. However, it doesn’t do everything that can be done to make a safer product for billions of people who use the Facebook application.

Haugen told CBS News that Facebook had recruited it in 2019, and he joined the condition that he could be involved in work with the wrong information. He has lost a friend for online conspiracy theory, something he does not want to experience others.

Haugen joined the Civic Integrity Division, a group on Facebook that worked at the risk of elections, including wrong information. But Facebook dissolved the group shortly after the November 2020 presidential election, Whistleblower explained:

They told us, ‘We dissolve civil integrity. “Like, they basically said,” Oh, good, we succeeded through the election. There is no riot. We can get rid of civil integrity now. ‘Fast forward a few months, we got a rebellion. And when they get rid of civil integrity, it is a moment where I like, ‘I don’t believe that they are willing to actually invest what needs to be invested to keep Facebook harmless.’
